omiindustriies' description of the omiindustriies Ah Jerk self-influencing chaotic oscillator (8 hp)
MY KIND OF JERK: THE CHAOTIC CIRCUIT TYPE.
Ah Jerk is the second installment of the Jerk line of modules from omiindustriies. Like Ya Jerk before it, it is a two-channel chaotic oscillator configured in a self-influencing feedback loop, conceptualized as a chaotic argument. The outputs of Ah Jerk are chaotic, sitting somewhere between a noise source and a standard voltage controlled oscillator.
They are chaotic and aperiodic, which is different from both the purely random output of white noise, and the predictable periodic oscillation of something like a sine wave. Ah Jerk is a module that lends itself to experimentation, exploration, and esoteric oscillations. In addition to generating audio, Ah Jerk works great as a way to process external audio signals, loosely tracking an incoming audio source; chaotically smearing and reanimating it.
ey! and ew... control the timbre of the outputs, and i'm walkin here! And like, whatever control the frequency of each of the sides. However, all controls determine the pitch and complexity of the signals, as well as their amplitude. The controls are inverse from many standard controls, for turning walkin and whatever clockwise decreases the pitch of that side, and turning ey and ew clockwise makes the outputs less complex Each side has three outputs, X, Y, and Z. Z is the most sinusoidal, and X is the most jagged and complex.
The Influence inputs are CV inputs with attenuverters to control both the polarity and amplitude of the input signals. In the center, the output is off. Turning clockwise increases the CV amount positively, while turning counterclockwise inverts and increases the input negatively. By default, the X output from the green side and the Z output from the pink side are normalled into the opposing influence input, but inserting a cable will override this.
