A description of the Roland PG-200 currently available for sale through The Midium® Vintage Collection.
THE MIDIUM® CURATOR'S NOTE: Vintage Synthesizer Controller
WRITTEN BY CAMI: This Roland PG-200 arrived at The Midium® via an acquisition from the third quarter of 2024. This is the PG-200 we played with the Roland JX-3P we had in our demo studio. The latter is up for sale as of this writing of this note (20 November 2025).
This PG-200 required only a thorough cleaning for it to be ready for our collection. We performed a thorough cleaning, checked solder joints, and tested this PG-200 with our own Roland JX-3P, and it works exactly as it should. The paint has scratches, as seen in the photos, which is to be expected from a controller of 1980s vintage. Some knobs also have scratches, yet the silver paint remains intact. Also, please examine the photos closely, as you can see that the paint on the surface around each knob is shinier than parts of the Roland PG-200 not usually exposed to friction or motion. While checking solder joints and each knob and switch's performance, we found that each knob and switch is fully functional. All in all, this Roland PG-200 is in great condition for its age, and one of the best examples of a PG-200 we have seen. It is being sold as-is.
In terms of use, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the Roland PG-200 is not needed to play a Roland JX-3P––and it certainly isn't––though it makes parameters more easy to access and presents a more immediate programming and live playing experience. Our own JX-3P at The Midium® was first brought in without a PG-200 and we played it just fine. Once we decided to add a Roland PG-200 to it, in my opinion, it felt more like the synthesizers of the time, which were laden with potentiometers and controls, thus adding to its playability and value. Sometimes, I alternate between programming with and without the Roland PG-200, since both workflows often yield different results.

The Roland PG-200 comes with the special cable (original Roland) needed to connect it with a Roland JX-3P and any other instrument it was designed to control. Please note that the PG-200 will only work with specific Roland synthesizers and is not a generic MIDI controller. Please contact us via telephone, email, the contact form, or via DM with any questions, anytime. We would be glad to hear from you!
THE ROLAND PG-200.
THE STATE OF THE CONTROLLER.
WORKING CONDITION: Excellent (works as expected for a controller of 1980s vintage).
This Roland PG-200 works exactly as it should, and has from the moment we acquired it for our demo studio in 2024. All knobs and switches, as well as the connector on the rear panel, are fully functional.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good
The bottom side of the interior of the Roland PG-200 was inspected, which is when we reviewed the condition of the lower solder joints, with everything proving to be satisfactory. All other notes regarding physical condition have been noted above. We have done everything possible, within reason, to show any imperfections in the photos. Please take your time reviewing each image while looking for all details. Please contact us if you need more photos to see more details.
